Everything explodes.  Marryn has decided to call the handfasting off and plans a private dinner to tell Nienan, who decides to poison him before he can do it.  Amarik, newly rescued by Taini, crashes the meal just in time to condem Nienan by revealing what he found out on his secret mission. Toncho comes with them adding his own shocking revelations to the accusations.

Marryn runs into Taini, Toncho, and a new youngster named Tanika - the newest Barlord arrival and Southern Boll resident.  Also, Taini and Marryn compare notes and find out neither knows where Amarik is.

Marryn attends a hatching feast at Fort Weyr in honor of Taini and her young gold Birgith, only to have things get heated when he's out-numbered by females that want to wring his hide! 

What would a gathering at Southern Boll be without a spectacle?  The final day of the Gather is marked by a huge fight when Marryn and Aodien unexpectedly run into each other.

Marryn attends a beach party at Ista Weyr.  Lots of fun.  A late swim with Esther and Aadi results in Marryn hooking up with Aadi.

Taini visits Southern Boll just in time to help Marryn get to the beach for a swim after his foot goes numb from stepping on some needlethorn.

Marryn makes the mistake of mixing alcohol and dice with a visit from the trader Taini Barlord and loses a sizable wager involving future Hold trading.
